Late last month we packed up a rental van with all our luggage (all 20 bags!!), checked out of the hotel we’d been staying at for almost a month in Malmö and began the journey North. It’s a 6 or 7 hour drive from Malmö to Stockholm but for our young son and the cats sake (as well as the sake of my husband the driver) we decided to break it up and stop for the night at the halfway point in Jönköping.
Here’s a fun little blip of my uncle the day prior talking Nordic lore and geogpraphy
It was a good move to stay a night in Jönköping. We stayed at the Best Western John Bauer Hotel and I realized as I was looking at the art on the wall in the hotel that John Bauer is one of the most well known artists depicting trolls and other beings of legend and lore in Scandinavia. My husband posted up in the hotel room all evening and morning and relaxed as I buzzed in and out for walks including one in the morning with my son that was very memorable simply because it was a deliciously cool and pretty morning and an experience in a new city, with my son as curious to explore as me. Shortly we’d be heading further north to move in to our next home.
