Early Summer Afternoon in Regensburg
Bavarian Spring & Summer weather definitely is of the moody sort. But, if you’re like me, the changes feel pretty exciting. Morning skies may heave with rain and grey clouds and show no sign of letting up and then, come mid afternoon, it all disperses, giving way to a sunny and blue skied brisky afternoon. It feels invigorating and to me, this changeability is sort of inherent to the essence of Spring.
A recent afternoon trip to Regensburg was characterized by this seemingly typical Bavarian Spring changeability, even though I took the day trip in what was really early Summer. My afternoon travelling companion, having visited this lovely city more times than me, had a real dial in on navigating the city space. We even entered via a route I had never seen. How I had missed the Altstadt (Old Town) on previous day trips here is beyond me. But now I know my way there….
The remains of a recent storm. This afternoon trip was sometime in June, after a pretty wicked stormy spell that apparently wreaked a mild amount of havoc. This entire region, however, is inundated with farmland, so the onset of rains (although a bit heavy) was no doubt a welcome one. Since this time, we’ve had a nice balance between sun and rain, no doubt attributing to the verdant beauty of both the countryside and towns of the area.
