Piney Woods Arts Festival. This past Sunday. I just had to visit an Arts Festival named “Piney Woods.” That nostalgic summer camp feeling is starting to rise here. I didn’t even go away to summer camp when I was younger! But I think I still feel and appreciate the campy energy and have intentions to make a bit of life theater out of it.
I won’t even get into the directions debacle that went down as part of our experience in getting there, suffice to say that people here don’t seem to like using road signs much when giving directions, much to our “Yank” hilarity and increasingly aggressive frustration. Everything is so round about with directions. Sincere, yet confusing. Yet when we put the pedal to the medal and paid attention to the lack of “signs,” we made it there.
So these pics are just a tribute to all the local (and regional) artisans and their great stuff.
I managed to ask everyone whose work I am posting here their permission to photograph their work. Gunter Painting was one of the only I managed to follow up and find out their website as well. The work was just beautiful and the Dutch couple behind it engaging and nice.
